About Ellie

I came to yoga by accident after a chance meeting with a teacher while waiting for a fitness class at my local gym. I was, as usual, pushing myself too hard - daily gym work, training for a half marathon, working a demanding full time job with four hours of daily commuting. No time to stop. No patience for slowing down.

Many injuries, many episodes of stress and burnout later, I found myself drawn increasingly to yoga, and to the space that it provides to be rather than do. Restorative yoga in particular was the route to realisation and acceptance that rest is a necessity and not laziness or something that needs to be earned.

I now share restorative yoga practices to allow people  the space to take time out from their busy lives and switch off, do less, and be more.

Prior to running Yoga at The Grange, I worked for many years in chemistry - in academic research, then in the publishing industry, before moving into a career in software development.

Outside yoga, I enjoy training in the gym, walking, building Lego and knitting.
